About the house
The revived house.A remembered name.
Robert Carter & Brothers Inc. is an independent publishing house in Hamilton, Ontario. It revives a historic name. It is not a legal continuation of the New York firm, which closed in 1889.
Who the house is
Historic Presbyterian
and Reformed publishing.
Presbyterian names the historical centre. Reformed names the theological field. Christian thought names the room to publish beyond that field, when a work deserves the same care. The house is not an organ of any denomination.
The revived programme restores important works of theology, church history, and Christian thought. No title has been published yet. What is in hand is work in progress, not a current list of books.
The nineteenth-century firm, from the shop on Canal Street to the sale of the plates in 1890, is told on the History page. That catalogue was wider than the Presbyterian and Reformed centre of this revival. The history is not a description of the list now being made.
