RCB begins with a theological debate, an experiment in historical recovery, and a body of Presbyterian satire. Each project requires a different editorial form; all begin with material worth making newly legible.

The Lost Churches ProjectA database of congregations that disappeared

An online database and archive documenting churches that closed, merged, moved, or vanished from institutional memory. The project connects places, dates, denominations, buildings, ministers, records, and surviving sources, turning scattered local evidence into a usable historical map.

The Pastoral Epistles of Peter PlymleyPresbyterian satire from The Presbyterian Record

A recovered collection of Peter Plymley’s comic epistles and columns, published in The Presbyterian Record from 1992 to 2004. Ecclesiastical manners, denominational machinery, clerical vanity, and the earnest absurdities of church life receive the affectionate pressure of satire.

Publication is part of the research.

These projects are in active development. Titles, formats, and publication schedules will sharpen as transcription, archival work, permissions, and editorial collation proceed. Notes from the work will appear in the journal before the finished editions.
